Hello Golfers!
We are just under one week away from the 19th Annual Student Legal Assistance Golf Tournament, which will be held at Sirocco Golf Club on Thursday, July 21st.
We thank you all for either sponsoring or entering a team in this year’s tournament. As you know, Student Legal Assistance has been unable to host the tournament since 2019, and we’re looking forward to this year’s event being the best one yet!
Friendly reminder, if you have not yet provided the names of your golfers, we request that you do so by Monday, July 18th
Below is an itinerary for the day of the tournament, as well as a few reminders regarding Sirocco’s course rules. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the itinerary please let myself or Mati Rubi know.
2022 SLA Golf Tournament Itinerary
7:00 AM – Registration opens and breakfast is served. Golfers can enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, coffee and tea before the round begins.
7:45 AM – Golfers head to their carts. Sirocco representatives present tournament rules and course reminders to golfers.
8:00 AM – First golfers tee off. Tournament will run Texas Scramble style (i.e., “Best Ball”) to maintain the pace of play. Each golfer will contribute at least three drives to the round.
Approximately 1:00 PM – Rounds wrap up and golfers return to clubhouse.
Approximately 1:30 PM – Banquet lunch is served and remarks are provided on behalf of Student Legal Assistance.
The Sirocco Golf Club is located at 210178 – 64 Street West, Foothills, Alberta T1S 5G5, about 30 minutes’ drive from downtown Calgary. Please allow yourself sufficient travel time to the course to ensure the tournament can start on time. All course rules must be observed, including the dress code, which includes: soft soled shoes or soft spikes only, no flip flops or denim. Men are required to wear a collared shirt and women’s shirts without sleeves must have a collar, whereas women’s shirts with sleeves do not require a collar.
Golf cart rentals are included in tournament registration and have been generously sponsored by Blakes. Golfers renting clubs from Sirocco may wish to arrive early to allow themselves time to attend the Pro Shop and get fitted for clubs, etc.
There will be a number of on-course mini games for golfers to enjoy, including our “Marshmallow Longest Drive,” “Wheel of Fortune,” and “Frisbee Bomb,” amongst others. Mulligans will be available for purchase for $10 each. The BD&P “Survivor ball” challenge is also back – teams will be provided with a marked BD&P ball to be played at every hole, and all teams whose ball survives the round will be entered to win a prize.
Golfers are invited to enjoy complimentary non-alcoholic beverages during the breakfast and banquet lunch. Golfers will be provided one drink ticket to enjoy a complimentary alcoholic beverage at the banquet lunch, additional alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. On-course beverages (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) will be available for purchase using cash or credit card.
